Where are you located?
Moonflower Yoga is at 2093 Bellmore Avenue, at the corner of Wilson Avenue, in the town of Bellmore. We are in Nassau County on the south shore of Long Island. The studio is just 2 short traffic lights north of the Sunrise Highway and we are very close to the Bellmore LIRR train station. Click on the “About Us” tab to see a picture of the building.
Do you have parking?
Yes! There is a parking lot for the studio behind the building on Wilson Avenue. Park your car in the lot, walk around the front to Bellmore Avenue, and come up the porch steps. Look for the wicker furniture on the porch. You can also park on the street.
What should I wear to class?
Wear pants with an elastic waist so you can be comfortable as you move. A t-shirt or any comfortable shirt top is fine. If you are attending the Tai Chi class, please bring a pair of socks, as you can transition more easily in your Tai Chi poses with socks.
Do I wear shoes in a yoga class?
NO! All shoes will remain in the hallway in the designated area for shoes. The studio floor is immaculately clean and does not contain any dirt from street shoes. It is important to be barefoot during your yoga class so that you can feel the ground with your feet which gives you the best balance, particularly during standing poses. If you are attending a meditation class or workshop, you can wear socks on the studio floor.
Do I need a yoga mat?
You will need a yoga mat for your yoga practice. If you do not own a yoga mat, and if this is your first time at the studio, we do have loaner mats that we can provide to you at no cost for the initial class. After the initial class, there is a $1 rental fee per use. Moonflower Yoga sells a wonderful variety of yoga mats from Hugger Mugger, a leading yoga supplier. These are made in the USA, and are of excellent quality. They also come in two thickness levels, and students with knee or back issues might prefer the slightly thicker mat which provides more cushioning. The mats come in a great variety of colors. Moonflower Yoga also sells mat bags to keep your yoga mat from getting dirty.
Do I need to bring any props or anything else to the class?
No! Moonflower Yoga is very well stocked with supplies to make you comfortable in your practice. We have blankets, bolsters, straps, blocks, pillows, etc. You can use any of these props during your time at the studio. Your instructor for the class will also bring some props in the room and offer you props, as needed, for your class. You will need a yoga mat – see the blurb above.
It’s my first time at your studio. Is there anything else that I need to know?
Welcome! We look forward to meeting you. If this is your first time at the studio, please arrive approximately 10 minutes early to complete initial registration paperwork and to meet your instructor.
Moonflower Yoga is also different than most yoga studios. We are semi-private in nature so that our class size is small, generally with 6-8 students per class. Our instructors pay personal attention to you, and it is a warm, friendly studio. You’ll love it!

I am a senior. Can I practice yoga?
Yes, provided your doctor is okay having you try a yoga class. We have students ranging in age from 8 years old to 85 years old! We always emphasize in our classes that you must listen to your body and move in a way that is comfortable for you. If while moving you feel any pain, you should immediately stop and advise the instructor. There are modifications available, and we have lots of props to help support you. If you cannot get to the ground to practice yoga, try the Tuesday morning Chair Yoga at 11 AM.
I’m pregnant. Can I practice yoga?
Congratulations! Yes, you can practice modified yoga poses, provided your doctor is okay with having you practice yoga during your pregnancy. Please check with your health care provider. Many doctors recommend yoga for pregnancy, as it helps with breathing and opening the hips for an easier, natural delivery. Poses will need to be modified for you to accommodate your pregnancy. There are certain poses that should be avoided during pregnancy, and some which are acceptable for the first trimester but not the later stages. It is important that you tell your instructor that you are pregnant, as not all pregnancies are visible especially in the early stages. Several of the Moonflower Yoga students have enjoyed a great yoga practice until right before delivery and had healthy babies.
I’m feeling very stressed and my doctor recommends yoga. Which classes should I try?
Meditation is an absolutely wonderful tool to help you relax. We have a meditation class every Tuesday night at 7:30 PM, as well as a special 30-minute guided, singing bowl meditation at 9 AM on Tuesdays. Click on the “descriptions” tab above to see the current meditation schedule. In addition to meditation, yoga is definitely fantastic for helping you be “in the present moment” and providing breathing tools. The classes listed below are ones that you might wish to consider:
- Monday: Candlelight Restorative on alternate Mondays at 7:30 PM.
- Tuesday: 30-minute singing bowl meditation at 8:45 AM, 9:15 AM Morning Movement & Meditation class, 11 AM Chair Yoga. Also try our 7:30 PM “Stress Buster” series of classes (check the “Descriptions” or “Monthly News” tab for more info on the weekly “Stress Buster” offerings).
- Wednesday: 9:30 AM Rejuvenate and Stretch, 10:45 AM Inhale, Exhale, Stretch! class, 5 PM Kundalini, 6:10 PM Balance and Tone, 7:30 PM Flex and Stretch or Evening Stretch.
- Thursday: 11:30 AM Chair Yoga class, 5:15 PM Calm & Stretch Gentle Yoga for Beginners, 6:30 PM Kundalini Yoga, 8 PM Unwind & Relax.

Click on the “Events” tab for more info.
How much is a class?
Any one-hour class on the schedule is $21 per class. The Tuesday morning, 30-minute meditations are $12 per class. There are monthly class packages available which lower the price of the individual class. Click on the “Pricing” tab above for more info. If you wish to purchase a class package, you must do this at the Moonflower Yoga studio, and Moonflower Yoga reserves the classes for you at the discounted price.
Workshops are generally 2 hours and food is offered, so the pricing for these activities is different than a one-hour class and priced accordingly. In the description of the workshop on the “Workshop” tab, or “Descriptions” tab, you will see the price.
You can register for any single, available, non-package class, workshop, or event from the “Schedule” tab above. Follow the simple registration steps.
I don’t have a PayPal account. Can I still register online for a class?
Yes! You do NOT need a PayPal account in order to register for an individual class on the schedule. PayPal is a very well-established, financial company that will securely handle the financial transaction. They accept all major credit cards. If you do have a PayPal account, you can use this also to purchase a class or workshop rather than a credit card. PayPal will send you an email confirmation of your financial transaction.
How do I know I am registered when I booked a class online?
Once you have successfully registered online, you will receive TWO email confirmations: one from Moonflower Yoga confirming your reservation and one from PayPal confirming your financial transaction. You must complete both the registration information and the payment information. If you only complete the registration screen with no payment, you are NOT registered for the class or workshop!!
Do I need to register in advance and how do I know if a class is available or if it is sold out?
Moonflower Yoga is unlike other studios or large fitness facilities. Because our class size is small, with semi-private classes, and generally a max of 6-8 students per class, we highly recommend registering in advance. Classes do sell out, and you should register in advance to make sure a space is available. You can register in advance by selecting the available class or workshop that you want from the “Schedule” tab above. Look for any class or workshop which is in black font or yellow font (those in red font are sold out). Double click on the date you want and then follow the simple registration steps. When your registration is complete, you will receive two email confirmations: one from Moonflower Yoga and one from PayPal for your financial transaction. It takes just 2-3 minutes to register and you’re all set! You can also reserve a class in person at the Moonflower Yoga studio, or you can purchase a monthly class package at the Moonflower Yoga studio.
If a class is sold out, the title of the class will appear in red font type on the “Schedule” tab, and you will not be able to register for the class. If a class is partially registered with some available bookings, the font type on the “Schedule” tab will be in yellow. Register soon! If a class currently has no bookings, then the font type on the “Schedule” tab will be in black font, and you can register for the class or workshop.
